INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ANALYST 2, 3, OR CONSULTANT

Required Qualifications: (All Levels) Bachelor's or equivalent degree in computer science or relevant scientific field; two years of software programming experience; (IT Analyst 3 Level) an additional two years of software programming experience, totaling four years; (Consultant Level) an additional three years of software programming experience, totaling five years. Master's or equivalent degree in related field will substitute for the two years of experience OR Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a related field will substitute for three years of experience; a combination of a Master's or equivalent degree plus a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a related field will substitute for the five years of experience. Additional Qualifications Desired: Computational Biology training - informatics and simulations; knowledge of and/or experience with common software development languages and tools, and software design and architecture. Special Requirements: Exceptional candidates who hold a degree in a different field may be considered. Responsibilities: helps the Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, and Computational Biology Core (BBC) of the Louisiana Biomedical Research Network (LBRN); works with LBRN Project PIs and supports their computational needs; helps define and build cyberinfrastructure to further Computational Biology research as part of the LBRN, working with LONI and LSU HPC; develops distributed cyberinfrastructure to effectively utilize LONI & TeraGrid/XD resources for Computational Biology research (as defined by the needs of LBRN); consults/advises researchers as part of LBRN on computational best practices, tools and methods to employ for scientific advances; performs research in Distributed Cyberfinfrastructure, including SAGA, Gateways and distributed data management; prepares manuscripts and grant proposals for future advancement of this program.
