Job Description: 

Graduate student positions (M.Sc. and Ph.D) in Bioinformatics are currently available in the Department of Computer Science or the Department of Biology at Memorial University of Newfoundland to start as soon as June 2011. Potential projects include: 1) Computational annotation of fish genes, 2) Computational inference of transcriptional networks, and 3) Pathway-based analysis of type I Diabetes data.

The ideal M.Sc. candidate will be an enthusiastic student and have an honours B.Sc. in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science (with a biology minor), biology (with a computer science minor) or related subject.

The ideal Ph.D. candidate will be an enthusiastic student and have a M.Sc. in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related subject. Candidates with a machine learning background with some biological knowledge or with a molecular biology background with computational knowledge are also encouraged to apply.
