Job Description: 

The new Goodman Cancer Research Centre, Laboratory for Therapeutic Development is seeking for a intermediary level bioinformatician to develop a comprehensive bioinformatics platform for high throughput shRNA and siRNA screening. This platform will be firstly applied to identify new drug targets in Multiple Myeloma based on synthetic lethal-based RNA Interference. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Jerry Pelletier (McGill University) and Dr. Vincent Ferretti, (OICR principal investigator and senior scientist in bioinformatics).

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Designing and implementing of the laboratory databases including the shRNA library database
- Designing and implementing a bioinformatics pipeline to automate data acquisition, processing and quality control.
- Management of shRNA Library Database
- Assessment of data quality obtained from high throughput screens (both siRNA and shRNA based).
- Management and analysis of Information obtained from siRNA screens. Implementation of statistical analyses using off-the-shelve and custom tools.
- Management and analysis of Deep Sequencing Information obtained from shRNA screens. Implementation of statistical analyses using off-the-shelf and custom tools.
- Presentation of Informatics Data to Project Coordinator on a regular (monthly) basis.

Qualifications
• B. Sc. or higher in computational biology, computer sciences or molecular biology;
• Experience in web application and database programming (Java, Perl, mySql);
• Knowledge of DNA sequence algorithmic and common bioinformatics analysis tools;
• Knowledge in Gene Expression Data and Deep Sequencing Analysis
• Knowledge in Statistics is an asset.
