Senior Computational Biologist
We are looking to recruit an experienced computer biologist to work on the production of the Rfam database. Rfam is a database of non-coding RNA families.
The successful applicant will identify new RNA families and improve existing families using state of the art sequence analysis methods. Additionally, they will contribute to regular public releases of the Rfam.
Because of the nature of the research work, the post-holder will be working closely with an international community of RNA researchers, incorporating the latest RNA discoveries into the Rfam database and Wikipedia. We expect that the successful applicant will become a world leader in the difficult task of aligning structured RNAs and identifying evolutionary relatives in large sequence databases.
We will actively encourage the applicant to become involved in research projects within the group and expect the applicant to regularly involved in publishing high-quality research. We supply a significant amount of on the job training. This role has a high level of responsibility and flexibility and it will provide great opportunities for professional development.
