Salary: Commensurate with level of experience
Hours: 35Hrs/week
Status: Permanent Full Time

We are seeking a full time analyst to provide bioinformatics support for various grant-funded projects related to stem cell, cancer, and regenerative medicine research at the University of Toronto. The projects include drafting and testing large-scale networks and genetic screens. The responsibilities of the Bioinformatics Analyst include:
• Analyze genomics data sets including ChIP-chip, ChIP-seq, and expression microarray data.
• Utilize existing bioinformatics tools to mine data and explore networks.
• Analyze genomic sequences derived from large-scale genome-wide mutagenesis projects.
• Develop software and scripts for automating analyses.
• Manage databases, web sites, and servers.
• Serve as a resource for training other scientists and engineers in data analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• A degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, statistics, or engineering is required.
• Understanding of biological data, molecular biology is required.
• Previous experience in bioinformatics necessary (network analysis, sequence analyses, large-scale datasets).
• The qualified applicant should be proficient with the following languages and tools: MySQL, R/Bioconductor, Perl, PHP, shell scripting, Matlab, and Cytoscape.
• One to three years of related work experience
• Experience in relational databases an asset
• Unix/Linux environment an asset
