Post-doctoral researcher in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data mining

Institution/Company:
Virginia Commonwealth University
Location:
Richmond, VA
Job Description:

It has recently become possible to measure (hundreds of) thousands of genotypes, transcripts, methylation markers, and metabolites. Combined with environmental risk factors and clinical disease indicators, these high-dimensional biological investigations offer great promise to better understand common diseases and improve their treatment.

To develop novel methods for extracting meaningful information from these large data sets, we seek a candidate whose primary expertise is in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data mining. A PhD. in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related field and strong programming skills in languages such as R, Perl, and C++ are required.

The post-doc will be sited at VCU’s Center for Biomarker Research and Personalized Medicine (http://www.pharmacy.vcu.edu/biomarker/) and work under the supervision of Dr. Van den Oord. Projects will be highly multidisciplinary and interactive involving other center members plus multiple external collaborators. The position is initially for two years and offers ample opportunities for publishing articles and career development.
