Caprion Proteomics is the leading provider of proteomics based services to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Caprion's proprietary proteomics discovery technology, CellCarta®, is based on a mass spectrometry platform that enables comprehensive, quantitative and robust measurement of the protein expression differences across large sets of biological samples. Caprion has been performing biomarker discovery and validation as well as target identification services since 2002 for major clients, including Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Abbott Laboratories, Vertex, and others in the US, Europe and Japan.

The successful candidate will work in a team environment, providing insights into experimental design as well as being responsible for the subsequent analysis of large proteomic data sets. Specifically the person will perform various critical tasks, including helping to define well powered studies, identify and reduce sources of variability and error, analyze proteomic data to identify differentially expressed proteins, and generate graphical representations of the results. Other responsibilities will include documentation of procedures, quality control of the data, and development of bioinformatics analysis tools. The person will work in close collaboration with scientists, bioinformaticians and software developers.

Requirements:
• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computer science or statistics.
• At least 3 years applied experience with large genomics and/or proteomics data sets.
• Experience using clustering, data mining and/or machine learning techniques.
• Strong applied knowledge of statistical tests of significance and data modeling.
• Knowledge of bioinformatics tools, techniques and standards, including Matlab is preferred.
• Knowledge of experimental design, including study size and layout and the ability to translate experiment goals into statistical problems.
• Ability to 1) apply well established statistical tools, or to develop new ones, suitable for the specific problems encountered, 2) refine analyses based on the evaluation of results and goals, 3) provide appraisal of the scientific value of the results, and 4) provide reasonable assurance on the quality of results delivered.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• The ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment with minimum supervision.
