Evolution in Bioinformatic Resources: 2009 Update on the Bioinformatics Links Directory.

July 1st, 2009

With the recent release of the Nucleic Acids Research’s special Web Server Issue 2009, the Bioinformatics Links Directory expands to almost 1400 unique web servers, databases and resources for computational research in the life sciences. All links are freely accessible to the public, and may be browsed by biological category and research task subcategory. Community is encouraged, and submissions or updates may be made through links[at]bioinformatics[dot]ca.

Each year since 2005, the Bioinformatics Links Directory has partnered with Nucleic Acids Research Web Server issue to list all of the peer-reviewed articles in our collection. 102 new sites and 10 web server updates were added this year. A historical reflection of the Links Directory since then, reveals some interesting perspectives on the evolution of scientific research and technology as viewed from the accompanying changes in bioinformatic tools.
